Emails have confirmed that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian agent claiming to have damaging information on 2016 Democratic Presidential nominee, Hillary Clinton. News reports have also confirmed that other senior Trump campaign officials, including Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner, also met with the Russian agent to discuss the information on Clinton. Lone Star Project Director Matt Angle released the following statement:

“Confirmation that Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian agent to receive information to help elect Donald Trump is disturbing and confirms that Trump’s team did in fact attempt to collude with a foreign adversary. The hard confirmation means that silence from Donald Trump supporters in Texas including Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick, Ted Cruz and John Cornyn is unacceptable.

“This matter now involves national security and the legitimacy of Donald Trump’s presidency. Failure by Trump supporters in Texas and across the country to condemn the Trump campaign’s confirmed  meeting with an adversary and support a thorough investigation makes them complicit in an effort to undermine our democratic process.”
