Yesterday State Senator Konni Burton (SD-10 Colleyville) appeared on WFAA’s Inside Texas Politics for the first time in nearly two years. During the broadcast, Burton laid out a far-reaching Big Government Republican agenda and launched a broadside attack on local control. In her six-minute segment, Burton lashed out against the rights of local voters to support policies and adopt laws that fit the particular needs of their communities and insisted that Austin lawmakers will tell local voters what they “cannot do.”

On yesterday’s broadcast, Burton was asked about her 2014 comments when she said, “You know I am very frustrated with the federal government imposing on the state level, that’s one of my great frustrations. So what I don’t want to do at the state level is impose things at the city level, right.”
Just last month Burton published an op-ed for Tea-Party front group, Empower Texans, attacking local control and pushing Big Government Republican policies saying Texas communities “receive their responsibilities from” and are “subject to” direction and priorities from Austin.

When called out for her inconsistency by Inside Texas Politics contributor, Jason Whitely, Burton responded bizarrely saying that she was not telling local communities what they “can do” but only what they “cannot do.”
In reality, what Konni Burton “cannot do” is pretend to be a traditional small government conservative. Burton has fully embraced and aggressively promotes the Big Government Republican agenda.
