Lone Star Project Report

Statement of Lone Star Project Director Matt Angle on revelation that Alabama Republican U.S. Senate nominee groped and fondled a 14-year-old girl and pursued other underage girls when he was in his 30s.

“A real-time character test is underway for Senators Ted Cruz and John Cornyn. They fail the test unless they immediately withdraw their support for Alabama Republican U.S. Senate nominee Roy Moore who groped and fondled a 14-year old girl when he was in his 30’s

“U.S. Senator John McCain has already done the right thing and called for Moore to withdraw as from the Senate race in Alabama.

"Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, along with Governor Abbott, Lt. Governor Patrick and many other Texas Republican leaders regularly defend their policy positions and political actions on moral grounds.  Failure by any of them to publicly condemn Roy Moore and join Senator McCain in calling for his withdrawal as a U.S. Senate candidate exposes rank hypocrisy.

“Cruz, Cornyn, Abbott and the others have already accepted gross sexual abuse of women by Donald Trump.  Greg Abbott accepted sexual predator Ted Nugent as his 'blood brother.'  If they now condone the abuse of a 14-year-old girl, none of them can any longer claim moral authority on any matter.”
