Recent media coverage indicates some confusion regarding Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s view on the Trump Administration’s “Zero Tolerance” policy that forces the separation of children from their parents at the border.

In a June 17, 2018 interview on Lone Star Politics with journalists Julie Fine and Gromer Jeffers, Abbott defends the Administration’s policy by repeating Trump’s false message that the separations are due to the failure of Democrats to join in passing broad immigration legislation.
Greg Abbott is a former State Supreme Court Justice and was Texas Attorney General for 12 years. He clearly knows that tearing children away from parents on our border is not required by law and is being done at the willful discretion of Donald Trump and GOP leadership and can be reversed immediately without any action from Congress.
