Loser Pointing Finger

Texans are tough. We have the character and resilience to overcome the worst tragedies and heartbreak, but what we don’t have is a Governor with empathy, understanding, or basic communication skills to help Texans through our hardest times.

Time after time, when disaster strikes, Greg Abbott is flat, defensive, and unaccountable. Leadership that addresses facts or acknowledges obvious failure is absent. Abbott is defensive, evasive, and insincere.

When 19 third-graders and their two teachers were gunned down in their elementary school classroom in Uvalde, what did we hear first from Greg Abbott?

“It could have been worse.”

When deadly winter storm Uri knocked out power across our state and froze Texans in their homes, Abbott rolled in front of cameras to PRETEND to care, even asking the camera crew after a flat and trite statement:

“Is that good enough?”

And just a week ago, raging flood waters killed over 100 Texans, dozens of them kids at camp, and over a hundred more are still missing and presumed lost. Instead of answering questions straight up to bring comfort and accountability to those who desperately need it, Abbott compared death and tragedy to football. He accused parents searching for answers and reporters doing their jobs of being “losers” who point fingers.

And all through his long and awkward evasion, Abbott pointed his finger, exposing the real loser.

Texans deserve a tough, competent, caring Governor, especially when things turn bad… that’s NOT Greg Abbott.
