It’s hard to keep up with the MAGA antics of Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare. Over the last several months, the diminutive O’Hare’s thin skin and giant ego generated a series of controversial and destructive moves.
Violating Rights
Over the summer, O’Hare crammed a redrawn and blatantly discriminatory Commissioners Court map down the throats of Tarrant citizens who overwhelmingly opposed it. Last month, he engineered the closure of dozens of voter polling locations as part of his relentless plan to limit participation in Tarrant elections.
Gutting Services
And just yesterday, O’Hare threw a full-blown toddler-style tantrum. County Commissioners Alisa Simmons and Roderick Miles refused to attend a Court session where O’Hare intended to ambush them with a county budget plan that ignores their priorities and key needs in the county. Instead of working to find middle-ground with Simmons and Miles, O’Hare melted down and lashed out. He cut county staff and services in ONLY Simmons’ and Miles’ precincts – the two precincts that serve the southern half of Tarrant County and most of the county’s Black, Hispanic and Asian American citizens.
Getting Paid – Tim-Flation Means Less Work for Tim, More Money From US
But don’t think MAGA partisan politics are Tim O’Hare’s only priority. He’s made sure to get himself paid too – in the most hypocritical way possible. O’Hare put a pay raise proposal on the agenda that he knew would pass without his vote. Then after voting against the raise, he collected it anyway. To further gouge taxpayers, O’Hare cut the number of Commissioner Court meetings in half – to only once a month. Under O’Hare’s new rules, he gets paid over $18,500 for each meeting.
