Today, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram recommended Veasey for the Democratic nomination in CD33 calling Veasey the “Best Choice” in the crowded eleven candidate field. In a laudatory evaluation, the Star-Telegram described Veasey as “a rising star in his party” and elaborated by saying:
“Veasey stands out as the person whose leadership qualities would serve the district best. In representing Texas House District 95 since 2005, he has a proven record of fighting for his constituents and the issues he believes in while acting as a unifying force and a coalition builder.”
The Star-Telegram also justified its reasons for rejecting CD33 candidate Domingo Garcia, noting bluntly, “…he is known as a divisive leader who makes more enemies than friends.”
Now, both major newspapers in the DFW area (Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star-Telegram) have recommended Marc Veasey in the new north Texas congressional district. New CD33 includes large parts of both Tarrant and Dallas counties. Democrats dominate in the district to the point that winning the Democratic primary is tantamount to election in November.
