Sunday morning, WFAA Channel 8 aired an Inside Politics debate between District 10 incumbent Senator Wendy Davis and her opponent Mark Shelton. Fort Worth Star-Telegram columnist Bud Kennedy joins moderator, Channel 8 political reporter Brad Watson, in questioning the candidates. The program is just under 20 minutes, so I strongly urge you to watch the entire debate.
The debate crystallizes the SD10 campaign so far. Wendy Davis is running as a strong and effective advocate for local families. Her criticisms of Shelton are substantive, backed by facts and specific to his actions as a candidate and legislator. Shelton is waging a much more cynical campaign based on predictable right wing platitudes but ultimately driven by false negative personal attacks.
To the degree that voters see this type of well-moderated debate between the two candidates, Senator Davis will certainly benefit.
