Later today, it appears that Greg Abbott will end his efforts to kill the merger between American Airlines and US Airways. The merger is a critical part of saving American Airlines and thousands of Texas jobs.
Abbott’s decision earlier this summer to join the Obama Administration in efforts to block the merger drew intense fire from across Texas, including direct criticism from State Senator Wendy Davis, who will announce later this week whether or not she will challenge Abbott for Texas Governor.
We can expect Abbott to seek cover and cite a technical or minor change in the agreement to justify his collapse.
