Now that Donald Trump has further confirmed himself as a liar by acknowledging that he’s had the authority all along to reverse his heartless policy to take children from parents seeking safety and asylum at the border, Texas Republicans are backpedaling furiously.
Greg Abbott already appears to be getting the benefit of doubt from some publications by simply shifting his rhetoric to a more sympathetic tone without actually changing his position.
Make no mistake about it. All three top Texas statewide elected officials – Greg Abbott, Dan Patrick and Ken Paxton – are on record supporting Trump’s policy to terrorize immigrants seeking asylum by taking their children from them.
