Last November, thousands of well-meaning Texans voted for Joe Biden and then crossed over to support down-ballot Republicans for Congress and other races. These and all other Texans were betrayed by the Republicans in Congress who could not muster the courage nor character to hold Donald Trump to account for an act of sedition against our nation.
Every Texas Republican in Congress voting today stood with Donald Trump and the traitorous mob that stormed our Capitol, murdered a police officer and called for the deaths of the Vice President and the Speaker of the House.
Donald Trump assembled, instructed, and called the mob to action. He orchestrated the first breach of our Capitol by a foreign or domestic enemy since the war of 1812.
Texas Republicans in Congress don’t even have cynical partisanship to explain or excuse their votes. 10 Republicans in Congress voted with Democrats to impeach Donald Trump, including the third-ranking member of the Republican leadership.
The Republicans who voted with Donald Trump today did so out of either fear of the traitor-wing that now controls their party or their sincere fellowship with the traitor mob. Either way, they defiled their oath of office and are not fit to serve.
