U.S. Congressman Marc Veasey is an expert on voting rights and serves as Chair of the U.S. House Task Force on Voting Rights. He attended the public hearing organized by Tarrant Commissioner Alisa Simmons, where the over 200 attendees overwhelmingly opposed the mid-decade redistricting.
Speaker after speaker accurately condemned the plan as overtly intentional discrimination designed to destroy the voting strength of minority citizens. Congressman Veasey weighed in hard, saying not only that the proposed maps were drawn with discriminatory intent but also that the actions of MAGA radical Judge Tim O’Hare and his allies are an illicit power-grab, like the actions taken by totalitarian communist regimes.
