MAGA Trumpers Move Against Mainstream Fort Worth

MAGA politicians and their extreme donors back hyper-partisan Pam Boggess and launch an attack against mainstream Fort Worth Councilwoman Elizabeth Beck.

The same dangerous MAGA coalition who took down former Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price in her race for County Judge is now trying to impose its will in Fort Worth city elections. Extremist Trump backers, County Judge Tim O’Hare and Sheriff Bill Waybourn, have teamed up with deep pocket donors to form a MAGA team to push Republican hardliner Pam Boggess against incumbent Elizabeth Beck in Fort Worth District Nine.

Elizabeth Beck and District Nine are Mainstream Fort Worth

Fort Worth District Nine is diverse socially, racially, and economically and includes much of the heart of Fort Worth. It covers downtown, Ryan Place, Fairmount, and Bluebonnet Hills and Wedgewood to the south. It extends north along I-35 and west to include Arlington Heights south of I-30 and much of the Arts District.

Elizabeth Beck is a single mom and an Iraq war veteran who has made public safety a priority by adding more H.O.P.E. team officers to address homelessness and crisis intervention and funding new technology to promote effective and safe policing. She has also earned a reputation for being careful with taxpayers’ dollars and has a 100 percent voting record on lowering property taxes, and she passed a bill to hold companies who receive tax breaks accountable for keeping the pledges made to citizens.

MAGA Extremists & Their Money Men on Board with Boggess

O’Hare & Waybourn are products of the extreme MAGA politics of suburban Tarrant County. They’ve enlisted the far-right donors who bankrolled their campaigns to help Boggess by attacking Beck. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Bud Kennedy laid it out clearly in a recent column:

“Conservative Republicans took Tarrant County away from moderate leadership last fall, and now, they want to do the same with Fort Worth.

A Colleyville-based political committee led by donors to Florida Republican Donald Trump and Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare is raising money to challenge two Fort Worth City Council incumbents in the municipal elections beginning April 24. Conservative backers want to flip two seats away from Democrats, and maybe from moderate Republicans.”

The new “Fort Worth Excellence PAC” based in Colleyville already reported raising $30,000 beginning March 22 for challenger Pamela Boggess against District 9 council incumbent Elizabeth Beck, a former Democratic Texas House candidate.

Among the first donations was $10,000 from Don Woodard Jr., who donated nearly $300,000 last year to O’Hare’s winning campaigns against moderate Republican Betsy Price of Fort Worth…”

Boggess In Bad Company

The financiers of “Fort Worth Excellence,” the MAGA PAC set up to help Boggess and attack Beck, have personal histories that are both extreme and bizarre.

Founder Don Woodard has given tens of thousands to off-the-edge politicians including virulent anti-LGBT MAGA Republican Nate Schatzline.

Another major MAGA PAC funder is MJBW, a company owned by John Kleinheinz who has given over $2 million to MAGA politicians like Donald Trump, Konni Burton, Devin Nunes, and Ted Cruz. But Kleinheinz is better known for his bizarre assault on a professional photographer who was taking photos of a young family when Kleinheinz jumped into the photographer’s car and drove it into a pond.
