Expect the worst from Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare
We should expect the worst from Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare later today.
The Commissioners Court will consider a resolution offered by Precinct 2 Commissioner Alisa Simmons that, to any person with honorable intentions and a rational mind, is a no-brainer “yes” vote.
The resolution will “recognize and commend” the Health Education Learning Project (HELP).
What is HELP? It’s a Tarrant County-based organization that provides clinical health care and counseling to underserved Texans. It was established over 30 years ago by founders who included two Catholic nuns.
Over the years, HELP has expanded as the need grew, providing better and more valuable services now more than ever. In 2025, HELP provided healthcare and counseling services to more than 7,000 Texans. They delivered more than $70 million in medications along with clinical and other support.
And here’s the kicker, they did all their work in 2025 without a dime of local, state, or federal taxpayer dollars.
Yet Tim O’Hare will vote “no” on commending this compassionate, effective, nontaxpayer-funded organization. And it’s unlikely that his MAGA Republican cohorts on the Court, Matt Krause and Manny Ramirez, will do any differently. Matt and Manny will feel the heat and fold to O’Hare’s “hate-triot” fan base from True Texas Project – a bona fide and formally designated anti-government hate group.
Why? What is it about this best-of-all-worlds health service that brings out the worst in County Judge Tim O’Hare and his MAGA minions?
It’s that HELP has the audacity to focus its services on the LGBTQ+ and other communities most impacted by HIV. HELP dares to direct its skills, services, and resourcefulness to prevent more than 200 new HIV transmissions in Tarrant County each year, saving more than a quarter of a billion dollars in lifetime healthcare costs.
Most politicians would seize the chance to salute a local organization that gives hope, meets real needs, makes an underserved community healthier, and does it all at no cost to taxpayers.
But rather than see a simple resolution praising the good works of a group answering the prayers of those in need, Tim O’Hare sees another chance to do what he does best – demean others, divide our community, and pit citizens against each other. O’Hare has no interest in hope. Hate is the point. It is his brand.
