Using flattering pictures isn’t unusual or out of line in politics. There’s nothing wrong with putting your best foot – and face – forward to make a good impression on voters.
But MAGA Republican State House candidate Cheryl Bean has blown way past flattery and straight into overt dishonesty. Forget about using AI to smooth lines, thicken hair, or tighten features. Bean has created a whole other AI online persona that doesn’t even resemble the real Cheryl Bean.

Dishonesty and Audacity
Bean’s dishonesty barely exceeds her audacity. She’s not a newcomer to electoral politics. Before moving across the county to run in East Tarrant-based House District 94, she ran – and lost – in the 2024 Republican Primary in West Tarrant-based District 97. The defeat must have had a lasting effect, because, in this year’s campaign, she didn’t just give her campaign a facelift, she gave it a whole new face.
AI Slop is Sleazy, but Bean Goes Lower
So how can Cheryl Bean go lower than using AI to create a MAGA make-believe campaign persona? Use it to post racist memes and other hate-fueled content and then insult the intelligence of voters who call her on it.
Worse than putting an AI-generated fake face online, Bean posted an overtly racist meme demeaning Black women athletes. Neither the intent nor the target audience for the meme can reasonably be mistaken.
The image is a take on Washington crossing the Delaware that insults Black women, the WNBA, and anyone committed to fairness and decency. It is aimed squarely at Cheryl Bean’s MAGA supporters who feed on hateful rhetoric and racist content.
Bean’s Posts Spark Outrage, Lies Reveal Her True Nature
The reaction to Bean’s memes, racist tropes, and hateful imagery has been damning and direct. Outraged and responsible parents and citizens are circulating a petition calling for Bean’s resignation as Board of Directors Chair of the Texas Center for Arts + Academics. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram accurately tagged her most recent post a “racially coded meme”.
But rather than have the courage to own her actions – or the character to apologize for them – Bean took the coward’s route, claiming she didn’t notice the obvious racist nature of the images.
Not every political campaign exposes a candidate’s character. Cheryl Bean has tried so hard to hide her true self that, ironically, her fake online persona has told us exactly who she really is.
